I think the problem I have with preppy!JC is fanon-based. Remember in Wolves and Boybands, how JC now is JC because he wants to be, and that's terrifying to Chris? I'm used to thinking of the preppier, conservative-looking, Germany-era-type JC as being constrained somehow, not free and happy in himself like the crazy haired hippy freak he became after that. Like, number of bracelets = level of JCness, mathematically speaking.
